White rice or basmati is never served with fish or seafood in Egypt.
Egyptians prefer cooking special brown rice for seafood and fish.
Very simple recipe and very tasty rice. You'll like it ❤
Ingredients
300 g of rice
1 onion
tomato sauce 1 tbsp.
salt 1/2 tsp.
pepper 1/2 tsp.
vegetable oil 30 ml
boiled water
Directions
Pour water over rice, leave for 10 minutes. Wash the rice well and let it dry.
Cut 1 medium onion very thinly.
Put a saucepan with a thick bottom on medium heat. Pour oil, add onion. Fry the onion until dark brown.
Pour the onion into a blender and blend it into a puree.
Pour the puree back into the pan, add tomato sauce, salt and pepper. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add rice. Mix well again and pour boiling water. Water should just covers the rice.
Cover rice with a lid and cook on low heat until the water boil away.
When the rice is ready, remove the pan from the heat and allow the rice under the lid for another 5 minutes.
This rice is served with fish and seafood.
